SAFETY COORDINATOR

DSI is hiring a Safety Coordinator to support our fabrication shop and field safety program from our Paola headquarters. Coordinators are cross-trained across shop and field operations, including structural steel erection, decking, rigging, cranes, and fall protection.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct safety inspections and audits in the shop and on active jobsites

  • Support toolbox talks, orientations, and safety training

  • Help build JHAs, hazard-control plans, and site-specific safety plans

  • Investigate incidents, near-misses, and equipment events

  • Maintain training and inspection records

  • Build strong relationships with ironworkers, foremen, and project teams

  • Travel to jobsites across KS, MO, and beyond as needed

Coordinator I vs. II
Coordinator I works under regular direction, handling routine inspections and training. Coordinator II operates more independently, leading audits and incident investigations, and serving as a resource for Coordinator I team members.

DSI is seeking a Travel Safety Manager to serve as our on-site safety leader for traveling erection projects. This role works independently in the field, managing day-to-day safety for structural steel, precast, decking, and misc. steel erection with weekly check-ins to the Director of Health and Safety. You'll also directly supervise 1–2 Travel Safety Coordinators.

What You'll Do

  • Lead project safety planning from mobilization through closeout, including JHAs, site-specific safety plans, and fall-protection/rescue plans

  • Develop and review crane lift plans, rigging methods, and load paths before lifts begin

  • Conduct safety audits and drive corrective actions to closure

  • Exercise stop-work authority when hazards demand it

  • Lead orientations, toolbox talks, and safety stand-downs

  • Investigate incidents and near-misses, coordinating with the Director of Health and Safety

  • Coach and develop 1–2 Travel Safety Coordinators

  • Deliver structured weekly updates and escalate urgent issues immediately

What You'll Need

  • Substantial field experience in structural steel and/or precast erection safety — not entry-level

  • Proven ability to manage safety independently with limited home-office oversight

  • OSHA 30 required; OSHA 510, CHST, STS-C, or CSP preferred

What You'll Do

  • Carry out daily safety priorities, inspections, and documentation under the Travel Safety Manager

  • Help develop JHAs, PTPs, and fall-protection/rescue plans

  • Conduct field safety walks, address hazards within your authority, and escalate high-risk issues

  • Monitor erection activities for OSHA and DSI policy compliance

  • Assist with crane/lift planning and pre-lift meetings

  • Support orientations, toolbox talks, and daily crew safety communication

  • Respond to injuries and near-misses, assisting with investigations

DSI is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead a small team and manage accounting, financial reporting, cash flow, budgeting, job costing, and payroll for a growing structural steel fabrication business. This role provides timely financial insight to support strategic decision-making and is ideal for someone with manufacturing, construction, or project-based accounting experience.

What You'll Do

  • Manage all accounting operations: GL, AP/AR, payroll, fixed assets, reconciliations

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP

  • Monitor job costs, labor utilization, and project profitability, including WIP schedules

  • Manage cash flow, forecasting, and banking relationships

  • Oversee payroll compliance and support HR reporting

  • Ensure tax compliance and coordinate audits and CPA filings

  • Develop KPI reporting (gross margin, labor efficiency, shop utilization, backlog)

  • Partner with ownership on business planning and capital investment decisions

What You'll Need

What You'll Do

  • Operate overhead cranes to position material for coating

  • Prep material surfaces and verify readiness for coating

What You'll Do

DSI is seeking motivated Welders and Fitter/Fabricators to produce high-quality structural steel components for commercial and industrial projects in our 165,000 sq ft Paola facility. You'll work from blueprints to fabricate, fit, and weld steel assemblies to the highest standards of craftsmanship and safety.

What You'll Do

  • Read and interpret shop drawings and weld symbols

  • Weld, cut, and repair steel components using approved methods (including GMAW/MIG)

  • Lay out, fit, and assemble structural steel components with precision

  • Cut using air carbon arc, plasma, and oxy torches

  • Operate overhead cranes and lifting equipment

  • Use precision measuring tools to ensure accuracy

  • Inspect completed work and maintain clean, organized work areas

What You'll Need

  • Minimum 2 years of welding experience

  • Strong blueprint reading and weld symbol interpretation skills

  • GMAW (MIG) welding experience

  • Ability to weld in flat or horizontal positions

  • Basic fabrication math and precision measuring skills
